A painless lesson is one without meaning. Edward and Alphonse Elric know this well. During a disastrous accident, Ed loses his leg, but his brother Al loses so much more: his body. To save his brother's life, Ed binds his brother's soul to a suit of armor with a seal made of his own blood, giving up his arm in the process. In order to rectify past mistakes, Ed becomes a state licensed Alchemist. He is known as the Fullmetal Alchemist.
