Re-encoding AVI to MKV/MP4 h.264/AVC [MQ] using SUPER

Posted by Hana Piers on Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Requirements:

1. SUPER © v2008.build.32 (on the bottom)
2. CCCP or KLite MegaCodec Pack

I've been using this for a year now but I'm still noob so I'll just illustrate what I usually do.

Assuming you already know how to open the file on SUPER, copy the following settings.
Note that you can also use MP4 on Output Container, change the Video Scale Size to whatever you want and the Audio Bitrate to 128Kbps.
You'll see on the OUTPUT section the video and audio codecs you selected.

Normally the encoded file is in Drive C but if you want to change, right-click the OUTPUT and choose the location you want.

Now encode the file. You'll see the progress bar running and the Output filesize but it's not definite so don't be surprise if the green bar starts again.
Usually, it takes 30-40mins to encode a 165-180mb file. The output is around 56-70mb. If you want a 40-55mb file, choose 240Kbps on Video Bitrate, however the quality may be bad.

Okay so far?
If you're not satisfied, you can try Mediacoder or AviDemux. There's also a tute around here.
